American Idol

American media in films with the Hollywood and television series have brought great amount of fun and entertainment. Reality shows are also very popular inside and outside of America. The competition in these reality shows are world wide popular. One such show is the American Idol (The search for a superstar). This show has mass appeal and has being in running for now eleven years now. It is considered as one of the most popular shows on American television history.

American Idol is a reality singing competition in which the general public has the chance to become super stars. A television based reality TV show was created by Simon Fuller. The show started to come on air from the Fox channel. It started in the summer of 2002.  The basic ideology of the show is to find a new superstar. It is based on the singing talents mainly and over all package of one’s personality is also important. The show basically aims to find out a new solo singer who would record an album.

It is noted well across that the American Idol has been the most highly rated program on the planet. It has broken all kinds of records of rating. It is the only television show to remain on top of the channels rating in for more than 7 years in running. This record is certainly unbelievable and would definitely take a serious well thought off effort to break.

The eventual winner is than decided on basses of a vote. These votes are conducted through out the fans. The fans than according to their choice give their votes and those votes decide that which man or woman would be the next American idol. What it does is that it keeps the audience totally in check as to how their favorite participant has fared in the latest episode.

Beside this the format of American Idol is such that there is panel of judges who give opinions about the performances of those singers. They give their valued observations as to which participant has performed better and who has not done justice to their potential. This adds great value to the show. Some judges over years are Grammy winning music producer Randy Jackson, Grammy winner Pop singer Paula Abdul and awarding winning Simon Cowell. Frequent changes do occur from time to time in the judges. Right now the world famous pop artist Jenifer Lopez is also part of the show as a judge. Another Grammy award winning singer Steven Taylor is also part of the show. The host of the show has been Ryan Seacrest. He has done a wonderful job in hosting the show in a very effective and efficient manner. The American idol has been one of the most successful shows on earth.
